Canine Arthritis Treatment

Arthritis is the inflammation of any joint in the body. It is a painful situation where more than a hundred diseases associated with rheumatism can give rise to pain, enlargement and stiffness of the different joints and can affect any part of the body. This is not only seen in human beings but in aging dogs too. As they age, the larger breed of dogs are more commonly affected by arthritis than the smaller ones.

Dogs with arthritis require plenty of physical comfort. This disease cannot be cured miraculously. It needs plenty of care and the primary concern of the master should be to give the dog maximum comfort. Dogs with arthritis are usually more comfortable if their beds are raised at least one foot above the level of the floor, and their mattresses should ideally be soft, four inches in height and the older the better.

Canine arthritis is also known as degenerative disk disease in which the joints cartilages weaken gradually. The lubrication inside the joints reduce as a result of which those surfaces which are believed to slide along over each other become rough and make movement hard and very painful.

The early symptoms of canine arthritis are limping, difficulty in walking, sitting, getting up, and climbing steps. The mobility reduces considerably, and you find the dog dragging his hind legs while walking, so their nails make a scrapping sound on the floor. This is a very painful condition for the dogs, so it is not surprising to find them unfriendly and snarling if they are forced to get up and move or if they are touched by mistake. They feel pain just as people do.

There are a few ways by which you can make your canines sufferings a little bearable. Make it a point to give him a little exercise, nothing very strenuous just something that will take care of his mobility and relieve him of stiffness. Take care of his diet and ensure that he is not overweight, as this will be very cumbersome on his arthritic joints. Get the illness diagnosed as soon as symptoms are noticed .This will allow the vet to put him under an exercise schedule, medications and diet supplements which will help relieve his pain.

There is a preventive treatment which could help canine suffering from arthritis. If any of the X-Rays show joint malformations then surgery can be done to avoid the onset of canine arthritis. If the condition is not conducive to surgery, medications can be given, or glucosamine supplements can be added to the diet. Care should be taken not to give any medications without the vet's advice. Along with all this it is advisable to follow a strict regime of mild exercises and walks. A medicine which is known to give relief from arthritis is Arthritin. These capsules can be taken apart and the medicine can be mixed in the food or treat food and given to the canine.Palaprin6 is a medicine especially for canines suffering from arthritis. With just a little planning care we can make our canine's life more comfortable.
